چکیده

Parathyroid glands from laying hens were also  xed in percent glutaraldehyde in phosphate buffer (0.1 M, 7.3 pH) for araldite embedding and used for electron microscopy. For routine histological observations, sections of 5 to 6 um thickness were cut and stained by, Mayer’s haemalum and eosin-phloxine, Masson’s trichrome, Crossman’s modi cation of Mallory’s triple stain, van Gieson’s method for collagen  bre, Silver, Orcein and Aniline blue method for selective demonstration of elastin, reticulum and collagen, Toluidine blue method for semithin sections, Periodic acid Schiff (PAS) reaction for carbohydrates, PAS with alcian blue for the differentiation of acid mucopolysaccharides. The frozen sections were used for staining in Oil-red ‘0’ in propylene glycol for localizing the lipids and Gomori’s method for localizing acid phosphatase activity (Bancroft and Gamble, 2003).

Histomorphological Study on Prenatal Development of Spleen in Partridge (Alectoris Chukar)

Introduction: Phasianidae is a non-migratory group of birds belonged to partridges family. One of the well-known species of partridge is Alectoris chukar, which is a medium-sized bird, larger than quails and smaller than pheasants. They are native to Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East and belong to the category of gallinaceous birds. Understanding the physiology and immunology of the lymp...

Response of Ultimobranchial and Parathyroid Glands of the Indian Skipper Frog, Euphlyctis cyanophlyctis to Cadmium Toxicity

Background: Cadmium toxicity has been shown in aquatic animals but the effect on frog’s endocrine glands is not known. We investigated the effects of cadmium on ultimobranchial and parathyroid glands of Indian skipper frog, Euphlyctis cyanophlyctis. Methods: Frogs were exposed to cadmium chloride for short and long terms and sacrificed after 24, 48, 72 or 96 h (short-term) and after 5, 10, 1...

Group size and density effects on physical indices and cell-mediated immunity in two genetic lines of white leghorn layers.

Social stress resulting from varied group sizes with density in caging systems is a common problem that affects bird welfare in the poultry industry in the United States. To examine whether there is a genetic basis for variations in response to group size and density, 2 genetic strains of White Leghorn hens were used in this study: HGPS, a line selected for high group productivity and survivabi...

Furnished cage system and hen well-being: Comparative effects of furnished cages and battery cages on behavioral exhibitions in White Leghorn chickens.

The battery cage system is being banned in the European Union before or by 2012, and the furnished cage system will be the only cage system allowed after 2012. This study was conducted to examine the different effects of caging systems, furnished cages vs. battery cages, on bird behaviors. One hundred ninety-two 1-d-old non-beak-trimmed Hy-Line W-36 White Leghorn chicks were reared using standa...
